Certified Medical Assistant Resume
There is a simple hiring formula: your working experience and skills plus our functional resume builder. Do a sum and get your winning resume!
To create a competitive advantage for yourself, craft a detailed resume that stays on point. Doing so will grab the recruiter’s attention and single you out from a crowd of similar (and absolutely worthy) job-seekers. To pull off this feat, you must keep the employer’s needs in mind while drafting your bullet points and qualifications. Give detailed job duties backed up with numerical support, such as the amount of paperwork you handled on a regular basis or the number of calls you typically took each day. For additional support, follow our writing tips about the proper structure and content to use in your document, then view our sample resume below for motivation.
Do not skip this section because it can make all the difference. It only takes a few seconds for the hiring manager to decide whether to evaluate a resume further or to toss it aside as irrelevant. If you want to make an immediate impression, do it with this section by providing the right words and figures. Boast about your substantial experience, focus on your track record, and summarize your biggest achievements. For example, you can write, “At Belltown Clinic, handled an average of 35 patients a day and championed changes to the filing system."
It takes some time to pick up the skills for the certified medical assistant resume. The best recommendation is to refer to the original job posting. It indicates the exact skills the employer is seeking for this position. On a separate piece of paper/file, write down all the qualifications you can offer in this role. Then compare the employer’s job requirements and your list of skills. Any matches should be used in your document. Pick 5-7 hard and soft skills, then mix in a couple of more interesting and rare skills to stand out and get the recruiter’s attention.
If you have extensive experience as a medical assistant, you don’t have to linger on this section for too long. Be brief and mention the name of your school and diploma/degree. However, if you are entry level, you can move this section forward and use it to elaborate on your academic qualifications in more detail. Add 3-5 bullet points, mentioning your GPA, the subjects you excelled in (medicine-related, like chemistry and physics), specific advanced coursework related to the position, and 3–5 academic accomplishments (authored articles, co-authored projects, etc.).
The way you handle this section depends on your work experience. If you have an uninterrupted string of jobs in this field, list them in reverse chronology order. If you have had gaps in your career or you had jobs unrelated to medicine, use the functional resume format where you list places of work briefly in one section then detail your skills and competences in another section. Finally, if you’re an entry level specialist, simply move the Education section forward above this one to take all the attention. For whichever past jobs you list, describe your relevant job duties with an emphasis on the skills expected of you in this role (ie attention to detail, cooperation, intrapersonal skills, etc.).

Can’t decide whether a CV or resume for a certified medical assistant will help you get a job? Let's compare! Although both CV and resume have a generic goal to present the qualifications and experience of the candidate, these documents differ in structure and length:
CV
A CV does not have length limitations.
A CV is a detailed review not only of your whole work experience, but also of academic history, including scholarships, research, and publications.
The CV text remains general to all job applications.
RESUME
The standard for a resume is one page.
A resume implies a brief summary of work experience, duties from previous jobs, and skills.
The content of the resume should be changed for each vacancy, to meet its employment characteristics and requirements.
A resume is a shortcut presenting all your related experience on one page. Therefore, this document is more preferable by recruiters because it helps to identify the right person from the number of candidates faster.
Using a template leaves plenty of room for making your resume unique, while saving you lots of time on formatting, picking a layout and fonts. Let your creative juices flow when working on the writing part, and leave the overall design to professionals.
