Chef Resume
There is a simple hiring formula: your working experience and skills plus our functional resume builder. Do a sum and get your winning resume!
Top chefs need top notch resumes. All world class restaurants recruit new personnel through recruiters. If you are good enough to work in a Michelin 3-star eatery, it should be communicated in writing. Professional recruiters speak the language of resume. Use our tips and tricks to grab the recruiter’s attention with a well-worded document and get invited to a job interview.
Also called the resume’s profile, this section comes first. Its aim is to highlight your most relevant and most impressive characteristics so that the recruiter will want to keep reading your document. Avoid generic descriptions and do not just list your duties. Try to find an angle that sets you apart from other candidates. For example, mention the restaurant’s rating, or your grades in blind tastings, or the type of cuisines you specialize in cooking.
Before you start penciling in the skills for the chef resume, carefully study the job listing. It has all the information you need to avoid generic entries and fill in the most detailed bullet points. In addition to the hard skills like operating a coal grill or a gas range, see if leadership qualities are required. They usually are. Look out for specific keywords you can use. For example, if you see that ‘managerial duties’ are needed, write in this section “Exceptional managerial leadership.”
For chefs, work experience is often more important than formal education. However, if you have Le Cordon Bleu certificate under your belt, flaunt it. Style this entry by mentioning the name of the Culinary Arts school, the year of your graduation, and your specialization.
The key to writing an exciting Work Experience section is to give plenty of detail. In reverse chronology order, list your most relevant duties but tailor it to the employer’s requirements. For example, if the chef job description expects a candidate to know classical cuisine, whereas you specialize in Mediteranean cooking, angle your descriptions towards skills and competences. Add that you take into consideration the guests’ dietary concerns and that you perform in an “effective manner.” Each line of your Work Experience should present you as a professional.

Can’t decide whether a CV or resume for a chef will help you get a job? Let's compare! Although both CV and resume have a generic goal to present the qualifications and experience of the candidate, these documents differ in structure and length:
CV
A CV does not have length limitations.
A CV is a detailed review not only of your whole work experience, but also of academic history, including scholarships, research, and publications.
The CV text remains general to all job applications.
RESUME
The standard for a resume is one page.
A resume implies a brief summary of work experience, duties from previous jobs, and skills.
The content of the resume should be changed for each vacancy, to meet its employment characteristics and requirements.
A resume is a shortcut presenting all your related experience on one page. Therefore, this document is more preferable by recruiters because it helps to identify the right person from the number of candidates faster.
Our website provides a wide selection of resume templates using modern layouts and creative designs that will suit the most demanding taste. Whether you are an entry level candidate or a seasoned professional, you’ll be able to tailor a template to make your document unique and job-landing.
